A welcome break from the work week, it was a pleasure to host a screening party for TED2019. Special thanks to LMHQ for the generous grant that enabled us to use their beautiful venue free of charge — right in the heart of downtown Manhattan, just two blocks from Fulton Street!
The main TED Conference in Vancouver had 12 sessions of incredible speakers; we had time to view two of those sessions. By audience vote, we chose Session 1 “Truth”, and Session 11 “Wonder”.
Session 1 Presenters were: Sarah Kay (poet), Sheperd Doeleman (black hole astrophysicist), Carole Cadwalladr (investigative journalist), Frank Luntz (political wordsmith), Baratunde Thurston (comedian), Hamdi Ulukaya (CEO of Chobani).
Session 11 Presenters were: Beau Lotto (neuroscientist), Cirque du Soleil, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (actor), Jon Gray (CEO of Ghetto Gastro), Daniel Lismore (artist), Richard Bona (musician), Es Devlin (artist, designer), Juna Kollmeier (astrophysicist).
