It’s fantastic having the opportunity to frequently visit the headquarters of TED Conferences. Out of thousands of TEDx licensees, I’m glad the Director finds time to speak with me one-on-one.

As part of TEDxBeaconStreet2014, Janet and I visited a nearby observatory. The telescope was cool, but my personal favorite was the life-size remote-controlled R2D2.

Each year, the TED Conference hosts a small invite-only event in NYC, for members of the community to vote on a short list of presenters who might get invited to speak on the main stage for that year’s conference. I was proud to attend in 2013.

TEDxEast used to be the largest independent “TEDx” event in New York City, and I’ve been proud to attend several of their conferences. They also occasionally produce small salons like this one, which last for just a few hours in the evening....
